The Breast Cancer Trials 43rd Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) attracted the largest ever attendance at an ASM, with over 350 delegates across multiple disciplines.

The three-day conference was held in Melbourne, Australia, in July 2022 and the theme was ‘breast cancer in young women’. The 43rd ASM saw the introduction of several new sessions on the program, including abstracts, symposiums and debates.

The ASM is a well-known scientific conference for clinical trials, attracting leading researchers from around the world as guest speakers. Our international speakers were:

  • Professor Charlotte Coles from the United Kingdom.
  • Professor Laura Esserman from the United States of America.
  • Professor Hiroji Iwata from Japan.
  • Professor Ann Partridge from the United States of America.
  • Professor Hope S. Rugo from the United States of America.

The program included two days of scientific sessions, a trials coordination forum for study coordinators from participating sites and a concept development workshop. We also introduced abstracts and debates for the first time.

An additional first at this ASM, was a trainee and early career workshop for trainees in medical oncology, surgical oncology and radiation oncology. This was a free multidisciplinary session, with both presentations and MDT panel discussions from leading Australian and international breast cancer experts.
